Internal CDC Emails Claim Assistant Secretary For Health Blocked Release Of Fluoride Review

Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine intervened to stop the release of the US National Toxicology Program’s multi year study that has already undergone 4 peer reviews.

The report was ordered by the Judge in the ongoing legal dispute between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and plaintiffs Food and Water Watch, the Fluoride Action Network (FAN), and others who are seeking an end to water fluoridation throughout the historic lawsuit.  The plaintiffs have argued that the practice violates the EPA’s Toxic Substances Abuse Act.

Hearings for the lawsuit began in June 2020, but were delayed for more than two years after U.S. District Court Judge Edward Chen put the proceedings on hold pending the release of the NTP’s review of all of the available research on fluoride. The NTP had previously claimed the review would be available in May 2022.

Derek Broz wrote for the Last American Vagabond an update that covers emails discovered in the trial that reveal Assistant Sectratary of Health Rachel Levine was responsible for stopping the release of the reported, announced as final and complete in May 2022.  It appears the CDC would like the report to undergo a fourth and unprecedented review by government officials.

Considering the practice of adding fluoride to America’s drinking water systems has been a common practice since 1945 and effects more than 73% of drinking water in the United States one could only conclude that science is complete and down pate.  But it appears there may never have been any science to suggest this practice was reasonable or sensible.

Fluoride works to protect teeth by having it applied topically.  This is why it is an ingredient in many toothpastes and mouthwashes.  However, all these products have been required to place a warning about unintentional swallowing since 1997.
