Police and Firefighters continue to monkey wrench Philadelphia’s city worker “vaccine” mandates.
Although the Philadelphia Police Union caved to the City’s Covid19 “vaccine” mandate an arbitration panel set up by the agreement has continued to negotiate the implementation of the policy. Approximately, at least a quarter of the City’s police force are “unvaccinated”. The City’s determination to place 1,500 officers on unpaid leave for two weeks was blocked by the panel. Officers would have been ordered to stay home starting today. Update: The mandate is now postponed indefinitely.
The insanity of this push, which would have fired the officers after the two week period unless they submitted to the experimental treatments, must not have been hard to explain to a City facing its worst crime wave in a generation. Additionally, the City’s Firefighters have also dug their heels in refusing to comply and suing the City for breach of contract.
Local 22 of the International Association of Firefighters that represent the 2,700 members of the Department have told their membership they “are not obligated to follow any Covid19 shot mandates”.
This will be welcome news to other unionized members of the City’s workforce as no mandate for “vaccination” can be instituted until all City unions have agreed to this treatment. The City has shown a cold shoulder to those in the non-unionized workforce firing 13 employees for non-compliance.
